Globus Adds Support for Dell ObjectScale

CHICAGO—June 11, 2025 — We are pleased to announce that Dell Technologies has officially validated Dell ObjectScale (formerly ECS) for use with the Globus AWS S3-compatible premium connector. Researchers and institutions using ObjectScale can now seamlessly integrate their storage infrastructure with the Globus platform, gaining access to powerful, secure, and reliable data management capabilities. By leveraging the Globus connector organizations can streamline the movement, sharing, and synchronization of large research datasets across diverse environments.

ObjectScale is a highly scalable, software-defined object storage platform that offers robust performance, multi-tenancy, and strong support for modern workloads. With built-in support for S3 APIs, ObjectScale provides a flexible solution for managing unstructured data at scale. Its validation with the Globus S3-compatible connector opens up new possibilities for institutions seeking to modernize their data infrastructure without compromising on security or ease of access. As a result, users can now more effectively manage data throughout its lifecycle—from collection and analysis to sharing and archival—within a trusted, high-performance environment.

“We’re delighted to validate that Dell ObjectScale storage connects seamlessly into the Globus platform,” said David Noy, vice president of product management, Dell Technologies. “Diverse research institutions worldwide rely on ObjectScale every day. Now, they can generate deep insights and large-scale innovations faster than ever before.”

This development comes at a time when researchers are increasingly navigating complex, hybrid storage ecosystems that span on-premises systems, private clouds, and public cloud services. As highlighted in a previous Globus blog post, the need for deep integration across these diverse platforms is critical to ensuring scientific productivity and data integrity. By adding validated support for ObjectScale, Globus continues to expand its ecosystem of premium storage connectors, providing the research community with more options to connect to their data—wherever it resides—and focus on what matters most: discovery.

“We’re excited to add another important storage provider to the Globus platform. Dell ObjectScale further expands storage access for research institutions, and simplifies end-to-end data management for researchers and storage managers alike”, said Rachana Ananthakrishnan, Globus executive director and head of products. “Our subscribers can now access data stored in ObjectScale using the unified interface that Globus provides, moving and sharing their data with unsurpassed reliability, even at petascale.”
